The first essay I wrote about the Pregnant Void was published in this blog on February 19, 2021. It was subsequently published in my book, WomanSpiritSpeaks, published in 2022 by Balboa Press. As I reread my book, I am being moved to rewrite some of the essays in poetic form, first the poem, then a Haiku. Each time I condense the thoughts, they become more real, more deeply etched into my psyche. The poems take me from my head more deeply into my heart. They become less of an abstract idea and more of a visceral knowing. I would invite you to go back to the original blog and then feel into the poetry.
The Pregnant Void II
What is being birthed in the dark spaces
where the ground is shaking
and I have no place to put my feet?
In the pain-wracked endless night
where is the certainty I long for,
the cessation of this agony?
Where is the solid ground to stand upon,
where I hang suspended between the future and the past?
I can’t go back, but stepping forward feels like dropping into the abyss.
What can be birthed in this no man’s land of nothingness?
This pregnant void with its endless possibilities
I only have to choose to take the first step.
I step forward, one step, then one more
and come home to the arms of Goddess.
The Pregnant Void III
Goddess creates me
in the still, dark pregnant void.
I am not afraid.
